US Weekly is on the backtracking trail.  This whole thing has been done to death, and rightly so.  I mean, I would print junk like that too if I didn’t give a damn about, oh, you know, my reputation.  But now, Michelle Malkin has a letter from US Weekly that reveals how sorry they are.

Thank you for contacting US Weekly.

We are sorry you are upset over the Governor Palin cover. We do not want to lose you as a subscriber over one article in one issue. In an effort to keep you as a subscriber, we will add five FREE issues to your subscription. Please let us know if you would like us to extend your current subscription rather than canceling our publication.

Thank you,
US Weekly
Cari

Damn.  So US Weekly readers who are outraged over this gargantuan backhand are supposed to be stupid enough to be bought off with *5*, count em’, *5* FREE issues of this trashy rag?  That’s worse than that stupid cover.

From the WSJ

According to Rasmussen, fully 68% of voters believe that “most reporters try to help the candidate they want to win.” And — no surprise — 49% of those surveyed believe reporters are backing Barack Obama, while just 14% think the media is in the tank for Sen. McCain.

Meanwhile, 51% of those surveyed thought the press was “trying to hurt” Mrs. Palin with its coverage.

Flyover country loves these attacks, I’m sure.

Well, they might as well.  Oh, her daughter is preggers?  There’s scandal afoot?  Plus: More embarrassing surprises.

What a bunch of hacks.  Michelle Malkin has more, plus the cover from Barack’s issue of us.  His headline?

“Why He Loves Her…She shops at Target, loves Sex and the City, and never misses the girls recitals.  The untold romance between a down-to-earth mom and the man who calls her ‘my rock'”.

Yeeeahhh, no bias here.  Move along…

UPDATE: From the Corner…

Oh, I see. The lies are from the liberal bloggers — and US Weekly is just setting the record straight. Which explains why they put “LIES” in massive type right below Sarah Palin’s face. No one could misread that.
