Living on the Kindness of Strangers

July 27, 2008

I’ve often taken a long look around my home here in the Blue Ridge and wondered how my people ended up the way they have.  Many are descended from a strong, prideful lot and still many are caught in some kind of time warp, like its still the 1970’s.  We’re that far behind in many respects.  It’s not necessarily the lack of material possessions, which is glaring; many choose to live lives of simplicity.  To me, it’s more the turning away from improvements, any at all.  Cyberhillbilly has related thoughts here.
